Sam, If you are using red, not IR lasers, I suspect putting a camera IR filter over the Advanced Camera's lens will improve the image. Because of the frequency difference of different colors, different colors focus at different distances behind the focusing lens. This can cause the image to look hazy if light outside the range of the human eye reaches the camera's imager. That is why digital cameras usually have IR filters over the imager to reduce the haze it can cause in the final image.
